How to calculate an arbitrage bet
- Find the best price on every outcome. Each outcome usually comes from a different sportsbook. Use the live odds board to compare.
- Add the implied probabilities. Sum 1 ÷ decimal odds for every outcome. Under 100% is an arb.
- Split your stake. Stake on each outcome = total × (1 ÷ its decimal odds) ÷ the sum. Every result then pays the same amount.
- Place both bets quickly. Prices move. Confirm each line is still live, and place the harder-to-get side first.
Arbitrage in one example
Book A has Team X at +105 (2.05) and Book B has Team Y at +102 (2.02). The implied total is 1/2.05 + 1/2.02 = 98.28%, so a $1,000 total staked $496.31 / $503.69 pays about $1,017.44 either way, a 1.74% locked profit.

FAQ
Is arbitrage betting legal?
Yes, in legal betting states it is just placing bets. Sportsbooks may limit accounts that arb consistently.
How much profit does an arb make?
Most real sports arbs return 0.5–3% of the total stake. Larger 'arbs' are usually a stale or mistaken line that may be voided.
Does it work for 3-way markets?
Yes. Switch to 3-way and enter home, draw and away; the same equal-payout formula applies.
